GLOBAL GAPS: Comparing socio-economic gaps in the performance of highly able UK pupils internationally

The UCL Institute of Education (IoE) and Education Datalab have analysed the 2015 test scores from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) PISA tests to assess how well the UK's schools are doing for the top 10% of pupils.

Key Findings:


  • Finland and Japan are the only OECD countries where the most able pupils achieve significantly higher science scores than in England.
