Responding to Prime Minister Theresa May’s plans to call a General Election on 8th June this year, Russell Hobby, general secretary of school leaders’ union NAHT, said: “This is an unwelcome development which seems to be motivated more by the European agenda than the domestic one.

“There are vital domestic issues to tackle; many school leaders will fear that education has been forgotten at the expense of Brexit.
