Guidance: How Ofsted selects new schools for inspection

Updated: Updated to reflect that good schools are inspected approximately every 4 years. Added a paragraph explaining the position for exempt schools that undergo significant change.

Ofsted usually inspects all new schools, including academies, in the first 3 years after they open. This normally happens in the school’s third year.
